GRASS GIS is an extremely powerful application for manipulating and modelling large raster datasets such as Landsat 8 tiff bands. As GRASS users we are aware the application does not implement 'on-the-fly-projections' to ease the pain when adding data in a different projection in the way QGIS does.

Replying to marisn: adding just a u' ' would not introduce problems elsewhere :( Backporting r64834 could help in some cases but an overhaul of any string processing in wxgui is required with strict rules (that need to be created).. it's already done in r65462. Helmut, could you please test current 7.0.1svn if it still works (1)? I would like to run it under GDB but it seems like it's a separate process that gets started.

I can think of the following possibilities to try as this issue can be specific to installation: Try to see if the virtual raster is the issue. Use a real raster file (not a virtual raster) instead.

Last year (2013) I “enjoyed” a brain CT scan in order to identify a post-surgery issue – luckily nothing found. Being in Italy, like all patients I received a CD-ROM with the scan data on it: so, something to play with! Usage: g.gisenv set="VARIABLE=VALUE" It looks unusual with two equals signs, but g.gisenv serves dual duty for getting and setting GRASS variables. If the user just specifies a variable name, it defaults to get mode. For example: g.gisenv GRASS_GUI text List of selected (GRASS related) environment variables

If run without arguments, g.gisenv lists all of the user's current GRASS variable settings. Results are sent to standard output, and may look like this: Provided by: grass-doc_6.4.1-1ubuntu2_all NAME g.gisenv - Outputs and modifies the user's current GRASS variable settings.
